    Being the heart of Yantai City and the important hub of the well-established vertical communications in Shandong Peninsular and East China Region, Zhifu District has already formed a vertical communications system with the network of highways, railways, ocean shipping and air freight radiating in all directions. Yantai Railway Station in this District has been connected to the domestic arteries via Jiaoji Rails, directly linking up to Beijing , Shanghai , Xi'an , Jinan , Qingdao and other big cities. ?Tong (Jiang) San (Ya)? Expressway linking up the Chinese North and South by means of the Yan (Tai) Da (Lian) marine railway course was put into use in October 2001, becoming an important hub connecting Northeast and North China to South and East China. Yantai Port is one of the 10 biggest seaport hubs in China , it has 15 deepwater berths large enough for over 10,000 deadweight vessels. The total cargo traffic in a year stands at 14,500,000t. Zhifu District has opened the marine courses to more than 100 ports in 70-add countries and regions in the world, started container shipping with Japan , the United States of America , Canada , ROK, Singapore , Hongkong, European countries and opened the passengers line to and from ROK. And Yantai Airport has opened the air routes of chartered flights directly to Japan , ROK, Hongkong , Macao and so forth in addition to the domestic routes to 20-odd different Chinese big cities.

    Zhifu District owns advanced postal and telecommunication networks that make communication with the world easy and fast. End users can directly dial each and every big and medium-sized city in China and over 170 countries and regions all over the world. The three up-to-date transmission means, optical cable, microwave and satellite are all available here that can provide different telecommunication services such as overseas and domestic direct calls, telex, fax, mobile phones, data communication, Internet, multimedia communication, etc.

•  Water Supply

    Comparatively speaking, Zhifu District is rich in water resource. Dagu Jia River is 10km away from the downtown area, the catchment area over 1000km 2 and annual water flow 350,000,000m 3 . And Menlou Reservoir is 23km away from the downtown area, the storage capacity 126,000,000m 3 . There is a surface water treatment plant that can purify 150,000m 3 water per day.

•  Power Supply

    With its complete electric facilities, Zhifu District can get sufficient power it needs from the two-loop power lines of Yantai Power Plant and Longkou Power Plant, both the backbone power suppliers of Shandong Power Grid. Yantai Power Plant has, at present, 2 sets of 50,000kw generators and 2 sets of 100,000kw thermal generator units that have both been connected to the regional grid. The State Planning Commission and the Ministry of Electric Power have decided to start the pilot project of integrated gas circulation (IGC) at Yantai Power Plant, which is now under preparatory phase. The reliability of power supply in and to Zhifu District, Yantai City has stood at 99.96%.
