APEC China Yantai (Zhifu) Industrial Park of Science and Technology ( http://www.APEC-zhifu.gov.cn ), lying in the west of Zhifu District and an important part of Yantai High-Tech Industrial Development Park, is one of the 5 industrial parks of science and technology ratified by the State Economic and Trade Commission specifically to open to the APEC members. The total planned area for the park is 14.8km 2 , and so far, 50 various enterprises have registered in, with total investment 570,000,000. The major business orientations in the park includes biopharmaceuticals, electronic information and new materials, of which the biopharmaceuticals are mainly set to develop new anti-cancer medicines, new cerebral vessel medicines, special medicinal media, general effective medicines, antibiotic medicines, health medicines and ocean-extracted medicines, and electronic information mainly includes optical cable, external equipment and software to computers, sensitive elements, sensors, electronic control system to cars, electric meters and new electronic elements, and new materials mainly include magnetic recording materials of electronic information, nanometer materials, fine powder materials, wear-resisting alloy, special alloy, rare-earth alloy, polymer materials and compound materials. In accordance with the State industrial policies, enterprises are also encouraged to invest in electromachinery, oceanic biological products, environmental products, mechanical processing, fine chemicals, new building materials, complete auto accessories, small household electrical appliances, processing of agricultural by-products, food processing, seafood processing and so on.
